U.S. Rep. Rick Crawford of Arkansas' 1st Congressional district joined with nine other members of the House of Representatives Wednesday to announce the formation of the Cuba Working Group. The bi-partisan coalition is seeking greater U.S. engagement with the communist island nation, which was recently visited by Gov. Asa Hutchinson and a delegation of business leaders.
They see Cuba as an emerging market for Arkansas agricultural produccts at a time when relations are being normalized. A key request from Hutchinson is that Congress enable the credit needed for such trade, as today it is cash-based.
Crawford, a Republican, spoke with KUAR's Michael Hibblen about the goals of the newly formed group. You can hear the interview above.
