Union Pacific says the engineer who was injured in a train collision in north Arkansas over the weekend has been released from the hospital.
Union Pacific spokeswoman Raquel Espinoza says the railroad doesn't yet know why a northbound train crashed Saturday into a parked locomotive near McRae. An investigation is ongoing.
The Daily Citizen reports the injured engineer had been stationed in the parked locomotive. The collision derailed 25 railcars from the track. The train was headed from Laredo, Texas, to Salem, Ill., and was hauling mainly auto parts. No hazardous material was involved.
Union Pacific did not release the name of the engineer, noting that the collision happened on private train tracks owned by the railroad.
