Great Arkansas Cleanup Starts This Weekend

Keep Arkansas Beautiful Commission

The annual Great Arkansas Cleanup starts this weekend, and people from around the state will come together to clean up community areas.

The Keep Arkansas Beautiful Commission is organizing volunteers from various groups, including boy scouts, girl scouts, neighborhood associations, and rotary clubs.

Over 800,000 pounds of litter was collected last year, with the help of over 11,000 volunteers from around the state.

"Everybody likes a clean community. More than that it is important because if gives citizens in communities a chance to get together, build that sense of community, and work towards a common goal,"  said Liz Philpott, with the Keep Arkansas Beautiful Commission.
