Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Rodham Clinton has filed paperwork to appear on the primary ballot next year in Arkansas, where she served 12 years as first lady.
Representatives of Clinton's presidential campaign filed the paperwork Wednesday at the state Capitol. Jordan Johnson, a Little Rock communications consultant and friend of the Clintons, filed the paperwork on Clinton's behalf.
Clinton has made campaign appearances in the state since launching her bid and former President Bill Clinton is scheduled to headline a fundraising reception for her in Fayetteville later this month. She won the state's Democratic primary in her unsuccessful bid for the Democratic nomination in 2008.
Arkansas lawmakers this year voted to move next year's primary from May to March 1. The filing period for state and federal candidates ends Monday.
