On this episode of Arts & Letters, we take a guided tour through the Johnny Cash: Arkansas Icon Exhibit, which opens October 10th and runs through January 24th, at the Arkansas Studies Institute in downtown Little Rock.
Our tour guides will situate native Arkansan Johnny Cash’s musical and historical legacy as we trace his birth in the small town of Kingsland in Cleveland County and describe how he and his mother and father and six siblings survived the Depression; we’ll tour the 50’s as Cash leaves Arkansas for the Air Force and returns home; we’ll remember the turbulent and triumphant 60s; the introspective 70s; and focus on Cash’s comeback, return and reconciliation toward the end of his life.
In this special extended program, we learn about the Arkansas Studies Institute, how the exhibit was designed and what educational outreach programs are planned with the opening.
