Little Rock Museums Host Big Boo Bash Thursday Night

The 18th annual Big Boo-seum Bash will take place Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. It's being hosted by the Greater Little Rock Museum Consortium and hosted by the Little Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau.

There will be games, story-telling, candy, and fun. The event will be held at nine different museums in Little Rock.

The participating locations are:
• Central Arkansas Library System (Main Branch)
• Central High School National Historic Site
• Curran Hall Visitors Center
• Historic Arkansas Museum
• MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History
• Museum of Discovery
• Mosaic Templars Cultural Center
• Old State House Museum
• Witt Stephens Nature Center

The director of the MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History, Stephan McAteer, says all of the locations are in the Downtown area and he encourages participants to visit each one.

“If you go to visit all nine of the sites, you can be eligible to be entered in a drawing for a free TV that’s being given away by Little Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau,” said McAteer. “Each of the individual sites is also having prizes that they are giving away and here at the MacArthur Museum, you can register to win a free bicycle.”

The event offers a safe alternative to door-to-door trick or treating.

McAteer says people know these are established institutions and it provides a great opportunity for children.

“The purpose of this is to let kids know where we are. Little Rock has an abundance of historic sites and museums so we are opening our doors, let them know where we are, and providing some kids' activities,” said McAteer. “You know that these are museums that you can go to and you can get a whole lot of candy in a short period of time as opposed to going door to door as a normal trick or treat experience would be.”

The bash is free to the public and free parking will be provided at each location.
