Little Rock Police Chief's Missing Handgun Is Recovered

Glock 27 handgun

Police in Little Rock say the police chief's missing .40-caliber Glock 27 handgun has been recovered and two men were arrested in connection with its disappearance.

Officer Richard Hilgeman says officers investigating a suspicious vehicle on Wednesday found the weapon and another gun that was reported stolen inside the vehicle in addition to narcotics. The two men were arrested for theft by receiving, possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance and possession of an instrument of a crime.

Police Chief Kenton Buckner reported that he couldn't find the gun - described as a backup handgun - after moving during the Memorial Day weekend. He was given a written reprimand by the city for the incident.

Hilgeman said there is no evidence that Buckner's weapon was used in any crimes.
