LR Air Force Base Renaming Part Of Street After Vilonia Tornado Victim

U.S. Air Force

A portion of a street at the Little Rock Air Force Base will be renamed for an airman killed while protecting one of his daughters from a tornado at Vilonia last April.

This Saturday, the head of the Air National Guard will present the Airman's Medal to the family of Master Sgt. Dan Wassom and preside over the renaming of a street. Wassom was a member of the 189th Airlift Wing.

A portion of CMSgt. Williams Drive will be named MSgt. Dan Wassom Road. The Aiman's Medal recognizes members of the armed forces of the U.S. or a friendly nation who commit a heroic act that does not involve combat.

The award will be presented by Lt. Gen. Stanley Clarke, the top-ranking Air National Guard member at the Pentagon.
