Mainstream Technologies Expands Adds Jobs In Conway, More Planned

Mainstream Technologies will open a second location in downtown Conway, the 20-year old IT services firm announced on Thursday.

The Conway facility will begin operations in September with 15 new employees. Little Rock-based Mainstream provides managed services, custom software, and hosting to clients throughout the mid-South.

“Mainstream Technologies is celebrating our 20th anniversary this year and we are excited about expanding into Conway, which offers us the opportunity to expand our footprint in an area that is rich in both talent and vision,” said Mainstream CEO Johnny Burgess. “Many of our associates currently commute to Little Rock from Conway and this move will give them the ability to work closer to home and improve the quality of their lives.”

Burgess said the Conway location will also help Mainstream respond to growing client demands.

“Having a presence in Conway gives us access to a deep talent pool, and Conway’s diverse and vibrant technology community opens up new opportunities for our managed IT services, colocation services and custom software development services,” said Burgess.

He added that Mainstream plans to hire an additional 30 high-wage technology employees over the next five years. Earlier this week, a U.S. Census Bureau report noted that IT jobs have grown ten-fold since 1970 and now account for 2.9% of the U.S. workforce. Median annual earnings of IT occupation workers were $80,665 in 2014, or almost twice as much as the median earnings of the total workforce.

“When a growing company and a growing community’s values align, it represents the pinnacle of economic development,” said Conway Mayor Tab Townsell. “Mainstream Technologies recognizes the best in Conway’s future. And they also recognize the needs of their employees today. It’s a perfect fit.”
