No Ruling After Hearing On Evidence In Realtor's Death

Arron Lewis
KATV, Channel 7 News

Attorneys for a man charged with killing a central Arkansas real estate agent have asked to suppress statements he made to investigators.

Arron Lewis is charged with capital murder and kidnapping in the death of Beverly Carter. He was in court for a hearing Monday.

Defense attorneys say Lewis didn't waive his right to an attorney and want statements he made to investigators suppressed, including a recording in which Lewis plays a voice memo of Carter telling her husband she's OK and not to call police.

Carter disappeared Sept. 25, 2014, after contacting her husband to say she intended to show a house to a client. Prosecutors say Lewis made the appointment with Carter. Her body was later found buried at a concrete business where Lewis once worked.

The hearing ended after several hours of testimony without a ruling from the judge.
