NPR National Political Correspondent Don Gonyea stopped by KUAR Wednesday to talk about covering Huckabee's presidential announcement.

The small, southwest Arkansas town of Hope is again under a national spotlight for its connection to a presidential campaign, as former Governor Mike Huckabee returned to his hometown Tuesday to formally announce his second bid for the White House. It's also where former President Bill Clinton was born.

NPR's Don Gonyea was among members of the national media that descended on the town with a population of 10,616, as of the 2000 census. On Wednesday, the Washington-based national political correspondent stopped by KUAR in Little Rock to discuss Huckabee's prospects in the race and what it was like for an outsider making his first visit to the town that is again being used as part of a national political slogan.

Michael Hibblen was a journalist for KUAR News from May 2009 — December 2022. During his final 10 years with the station, he served as News Director. In January 2023, he was hired by Arkansas PBS to become its Senior Producer/ Director of Public Affairs.
