With water receding after recent floods, Arkansans are left with a mess to clean up.
High water inundated parts of the state, particularly along the Arkansas and Red rivers, after recent heavy rains. Farmers and ranchers were hit hard - to the point that the governor has asked the U.S. Department of Agriculture for help.
Brett and Teresa Fawcett in southwestern Arkansas said the Red River flooded 800 of their 818 acres and that it was necessary to move their 454 head of cattle to a 5-acre tract of land. Meanwhile, the U.S. Corps of Engineers opened some but not all campsites in recreation areas around Lake Ouachita.
Pine Bluff Treasurer Greg Gustek said water left a thick blanket of mud in his neighborhood along Riverside Drive.
